1001 Nights

The illustrations are inspired by a trip to Beirut and a fantastic rewrite of the Arabian Nights Saga by Lebanese author Hanan Al-Shaykh.

I approached each illustration using the same method, I read the story to the end and I immediately start drawing all the images conjured in my mind by these complex and wonderful stories. The process is organic and I'm never quite sure how the image will grow.
